ANDOVER'S most dangerous neighbourhoods have been revealed in new crime statistics, with the town being named among the top 20 most dangerous major towns, villages and cities in Hampshire.

Data provided by crimerate.co.uk shows that the overall crime rate in Andover in 2022 was 106 crimes per 1,000 people.

However, to put the data into perspective for England, Wales and Northern Ireland as a whole, Andover is the 54th most dangerous medium-sized town, and the 648th most dangerous location out of all towns, cities and villages.

The most common crimes in Andover are violence and sexual offences, with 2,449 offences during 2022, giving a crime rate of 57 per 1,000 people. 

This is 13 per cent higher than 2021's figure of 2,167 offences and a difference of 6.53 from 2021's crime rate of 50.

Andover's least common crime is bicycle theft, with 35 offences recorded in 2022, the same as 2021's figure of 35 crimes.

Breaking the data down by neighbourhood, Andover Newbury Road ranks as the most dangerous neighbourhood in the town, with 974 crimes committed in 2022, giving it a crime rate of 127 per 1,000 people.

Andover Central ranks as the second most dangerous neighbourhood, with 1,007 crimes and a crime rate of 126 per 1,000 people.

While Andover South ranked third, with 681 crimes and a crime rate of 84 per 1,000 people.
