RESIDENTS at an Andover care home have been ‘travelling’ across Europe from the comfort of their living room.
Staff at Millway House, in Amesbury Road, Weyhill, have taken residents on a week-long virtual river cruise, experiencing the delights of Germany, Spain, Italy, and the UK.
Games were played, pizzas were made, there was singing with Rachorroti, and even a Spanish quiz, and residents all had the chance to enjoy the ‘local’ cuisine.
Finishing their ‘travels’ back in the UK, the week ended with a game of bingo along with a national anthem to remember the late Majesty the Queen, a year on from her death.

Home manager Claire Lousteau said the virtual cruise was a wonderful way to give residents an opportunity to see a bit of the world without having to leave the comfort of their home.
She continued: “Many of our residents have done a lot of travelling in their lifetimes and will be missing being able to see different places. It’s been brilliant to be able to give them a bit of that experience this week.
“It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying themselves and sampling what different countries have to offer, and thanks go to our amazing activities team for organising it.”
