A MAJOR road in Andover will be closed next month for a significant resurfacing project.
The project, focused on enhancing Icknield Way, is scheduled to start on Monday, October 2, and will span over several days and nights to minimise disruption.
The carriageway resurfacing works will cover Icknield Way, starting from Viking Way and extending up to and including the junction of Smannell Road.
To ensure the safety and efficiency of the project, the road will be closed in phases, allowing traffic to flow outside of specified working hours.
There will be no work carried out during the weekends.
Phase 1 (October 2-5): During this phase, Icknield Way, from Venice Court to Viking Way, will be closed to traffic between 9am and 5pm.
Phase 2 (October 6-9): The second phase will see the closure of Icknield Way, spanning from Smannell Road to Venice Court. This nighttime closure, from 8pm to 6am, is planned to have a lesser impact on daytime commuters.
Phase 3 (October 10-11): The final phase will focus on Smannell Road, specifically the section between Cricketers Way eastern junction and Dairy Road. These works will take place overnight, between 10pm and 6am, to further mitigate daytime traffic disturbances.
Residents and businesses along Icknield Way and its vicinity are encouraged to plan their routes and schedules accordingly during these phases.
Alternative routes and diversions will be in place to redirect traffic and ensure the safety of all road users.
