IT'S a sad week for Andover's tight-knit community of geeks and fans as The Geek Emporium announced its closure.
After three fantastic years of celebrating fandoms, collectables, and cherished memories, owner Stuart Gatward is bidding farewell to his beloved comic book store in Waterloo Court.
In a heartfelt goodbye message on Facebook, Stuart reflected on the remarkable journey that brought The Geek Emporium to life.
Back in 2020, Stuart fulfilled his lifelong ambition of opening a comic book store, a dream inspired by his childhood fascination with collectibles and 'geeky' pursuits.

Returning to Andover after stints in various places, including London, Winchester, and New Zealand, Stuart found himself continuously drawn back to his hometown.
It was during one of these returns that he began selling collectibles, starting with car boot sales, fairs, and conventions before establishing his pop-up shop.
Running the pop-up shop was an eye-opener for Stuart as he met people who shared his interests and discovered their unique passions.
The experience fueled his ambition to open a permanent store.
Stuart said: "So many people I met at events or the pop-up shop were very encouraging about me having my own shop. I just had to wait for the right opportunity to come along."
That opportunity came when Stuart spotted a unit on Waterloo Court, advertised by Andover's BID.
It was a dream come true for him, offering a space to bring his vision to life year-round.
Describing it as a "fantastic opportunity," Stuart took the leap and opened The Geek Emporium.

Over the years, The Geek Emporium became a haven for fans of all things pop culture.
Stuart aimed to cater to the diverse interests of his customers, offering an extensive range of items that spanned the wide spectrum of geekdom.
However, with a heavy heart, Stuart announced the shop's closure, citing a culmination of various factors and situations that have made it impossible for The Geek Emporium to continue its journey.
The store, which was known for providing a positive and inclusive space for fans to be themselves, feel safe, and be appreciated, will be dearly missed by its loyal patrons.
In his parting words, Stuart expressed his gratitude to the community that supported him throughout the years.
He said: "It has been a roller coaster of a journey. From starting at a car boot, to finally having a shop has been amazing. To have met so many people from all over the world and to be a huge part of the local community, I will miss what the shop represents and the people who made it possible.
"I will always be grateful to everyone who supported me and the shop, who gave as much as they could to keep both going. It is heartbreaking to know that some of you will need the shop so much that it will be hard to not have it anymore. I will miss you all. Thank you."
