AN INDIAN restaurant in Andover has been recognised for its culinary excellence and winning a Good Food Award.

Spice Route, based in High Street, was awarded a Blue Ribbon by the Good Food Awards after being recognised as "a hard-working team which strives for culinary excellence within their field".

Chosen for their food quality, service and value, the Blue Ribbon is bestowed upon businesses with high customer ratings and votes and is known as the Blue Ribbon for Delicious Dishes.

Spice Route is an independent family-run business by the owners of the award-winning Spices and Spirits in Basingstoke.

Nitin Patil owns the restaurant as a joint venture with his wife Anushree and business partners Prafful Nagrare and Chaitali Nagrare.

The restaurant's menu focuses on using fresh, high-quality ingredients, seasoned with home-ground species. Each meal is complemented with homemade pickles and preserves as well as a range of signature drinks and desserts.

Spice Route, which opened in June, was also recently selected as the best Indian restaurant for the south region at the Nation’s Asian Food Awards 2023. The award celebrates culinary excellence and innovation in the Asian food industry.

Manager Prafful Nagrare said: "We decided to offer authentic Indian cuisine for Andover and surrounding villages. Our food is well received, and that is testament in our Good Food Award.

"We are very glad and excited to continue our journey with more energy. We would like to thank all our guests, family and vendors for their support."
