A MAN has denied providing a murder accused a place to stay and using the victim's bank card to make a £249 purchase. 

The body of Stuart Maxwell Crocker was found just before midday on Wednesday, June 28, at The Signals in New Street, Andover.

Winter Swan-Miller, 36, of no fixed abode, previously pleaded not guilty to murdering Mr Crocker. 

At Winchester Crown Court on Friday, December 15, a trial date was set for May 13, next year.

During the same hearing, Swan-Miller denied using Mr Crocker’s Halifax debit card to make a purchase of £249 for herself.

A 43-year-old man from Walsall is also accused of using Mr Crocker's card and assisting Swan-Miller following the murder. 

Edward Jones, of Lancaster Avenue, is alleged to have provided accommodation for Swan-Miller and social media access on June 23. 

He is also accused of committing fraud by using Mr Crocker’s Halifax debit card to make a £249 purchase.

During the hearing, Jones pleaded not guilty to both charges. 

Swan-Miller’s custody has been extended until the trial date, while Jones will be on bail on the condition that he sleeps at his home address in Walsall.

Mr Crocker's family previously paid tribute to the 62-year-old, saying they were "shocked and saddened" over the tragedy.

In a statement they said: “He lived his life the way he wanted to, and no one had the right to take that away from him. May he rest in peace.”
