AN ANDOVER man is braving icy water to raise funds for charity as he takes part in the 12 Dips of Christmas in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Sean Curtis, 50, decided he would participate in the fundraiser as he knows many people who have suffered from the disease.
The challenge is to be submerged in ice cold water for a few minutes 12 times over the festive period.
Sean said: "I have done seven dips so far. I stay under for five minutes and that's enough. I get out when my skin starts burning. I did think to myself, what have I done?"

At the time of writing, Sean has raised almost £1,100 but hopes to raise more.
He said: "Everyone says that it is exhilarating and that you feel so much better after your dip, but today, on dip number seven, this is the first time I have enjoyed it. I took my dip in the river and people were watching me."
This is not the first time that Sean has entered into a charity fundraiser and he said 'it probably, won't be my last'.
Sean, who is father to Lucas, five, and Emily, seven, added: "I'd like to do something with the children, maybe a running fundraiser."
Sean is determined to keep going and to raise as much money as he can.
He continued: "My wife is really supportive. She encouraged me to do my dip in the sea at Christmas."
