AN exhibition of works by a Hampshire photographer has just opened at the Southampton City Art Gallery.
George Gammer, who lives in Broughton, near Stockbridge, has two projects on show.
Test and Itchen is about the local chalk streams. There are only about 200 chalk streams in the world and 85 per cent of them are in England, mainly in the south.
Two of the best known are the Rivers Test and Itchen, both of which drain into the Solent. George said he feels very lucky to live in this beautiful catchment area. The images in the gallery show the Test and Itchen and all their tributaries, in all cases near their source.

Sprat and Winkle is about the railway line of that name that used to run along the Test Valley from Southampton to Andover.
It was closed as part of the Beeching cuts in 1967. In its heyday, it was a very picturesque route. Now it is in a state of picturesque decay. In 2021 the prints were shown in the Andover Museum.
The exhibition at the Southampton City Art Gallery runs until April 13.
