One of the UK's largest water companies is searching for a new cohort of apprentices eager to learn while working and building skills.
Thames Water is launching its application process at the start of National Apprenticeships Week, a week which seeks to promote apprenticeships as a viable career pathway and aims to highlight the contributions that apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses and the economy.
A range of college-level to degree-level apprenticeships in a variety of roles from engineering to quantitative surveying will be on offer, with the aim of 100 new apprentices starting in the financial year of 2024-2025.

In 2023 more than 80 people started an apprenticeship with Thames Water, with 51 candidates joining from outside the business.

Director of Resourcing, Skills and Equity, Diversity & Inclusion at Thames Water, Karima Khandker, said: “Our apprenticeship scheme is crucial to our plans to build a pipeline of skills from our communities and from the education sector, to ensure we have a diverse and inclusive workforce that represents the customers we serve.
“All of our apprentices join us on a permanent contract, and we support them through their apprenticeship as they become fully qualified and valuable members of the business.
“Last year, we were ranked 71st out of 700 in the ratemyapprenticeship rankings, which is a proud testament to our investment in skills development.
"As we continue to turn around our business, we’re excited to enhance our drive for social mobility and provide access for all, offering careers people will love and be proud of over the course of their lifetime.”

Level 6 Degree Apprentice in Environmental Management, Alicia Gaughan, said: “It has been a great experience to work on my apprenticeship with Thames Water where I have learned new skills and developed confidence in a working environment while being supported and championed by those around me.
“My apprenticeship has made a huge impact on my development by doing on-the-job training and studying at the same time.
"It has given me the best of both worlds, enabling me to qualify while earning a living, and in an industry which provides essential services every day.”
