LOVE is in the air - and also on top of a post box in Andover.
A beautiful crocheted Valentine’s Day-themed post box topper has appeared on the post box in Alexandra Road in celebration of the day of love.
The romantic decoration has been created by Hannah Hughes, 47, who lives nearby.
She has been making these toppers by hand over the past year, including a festive Nativity scene and a spooky Halloween one.
Her latest work features two pink lovebird flamingoes sitting atop a white wedding cake with a pink rose lying beside them - all intricately crocheted by hand.
Hannah looks after five children and she works full-time, making the beautiful toppers in her spare time.
Hannah said: “It’s a hobby, it’s something to do. It brightens up people’s days, people enjoy them. It’s a nice thing to have in the community.
“I learned to crochet as a child, and when I became a grandmother last year, I started back up again to make blankets for my granddaughter."
Hannah said that creating the post box toppers is not all joy, they can be a real labour of love as she is allergic to the wool and has to take antihistamines while creating them.
Hannah’s daughter, Imogen, thinks her mum's work is brilliant and deserves recognition.
She said: “She’s just a good mum. She deserves credit for what she’s done. They take a lot of time and money to make."
The post box is on Alexandra Road, by the junction with Weyhill Road.
