A WEEKLY vigil has begun in Andover to pay respects to the huge numbers of dead and injured in the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
Members of the Green Party and other concerned individuals have joined the vigil which first took place on Tuesday, January 30 and was held the following two Tuesdays.
A spokesperson said: “We engaged interested passers-by by giving out leaflets and discussing the crisis. Towards the end of the hour we held a two-minute silence.”

On Tuesday, February 6, the group were joined by a local Palestinian family.
The group, under the leadership of Newbury Green Party member Chris Whitehead, plans to continue these vigils for as long as what it considers to be Israel’s genocidal acts in the Gaza Strip continue.
The group have said that all local people are welcome to join.
On Saturday, October 7, dozens of armed fighters from the Palestinian armed group Hamas crossed into Israel from Gaza and more than 1,400 Israelis were killed.
Israel responded with air strikes into Gaza, saying it was targeting Hamas. Many Palestinians in Gaza have been killed or injured in the airstrikes.
Israel then began a ground war in Gaza, with soldiers fighting inside the territory.
