RESIDENTS in villages around Andover are being warned to be cautious of scammers after a vulnerable resident was targeted.
A post on Upper Clatford Parish Council's website on Monday, February 5, which was later shared on The Upper Clatford, Anna Valley & Red Rice Village Page on Facebook, confirmed an Upper Clatford resident had been targeted by scammers.
The post explained how the resident had been offered window and gutter cleaning on their property for £65, before it was suggested that the resident's roof was in a bad state, and in urgent need of repairs.
The scammers said they could carry out the necessary work to rectify the 'issue', before asking for a substantial deposit up front, in this case £3,000, promising scaffolding will be erected the next day for work to begin.

Fortunately in this incident, a relative of the person became aware of the situation and intervened.
Despite this, residents are urged to be careful to prevent being scammed themselves.
The post on Upper Clatford Parish Council's website added: "If this happens to anyone it Upper Clatford, please could they contact Charles Eyre at 07730 304 290."
