AN ANDOVER pub has been handed a top food hygiene rating following a recent inspection.
The Southampton Arms, in Winchester Road, was rated 'very good' by inspectors after a visit on Wednesday, February 21.
Food safety officers rate food hygiene by handling of food, the cleanliness and condition of the building and facilities, and the officer's confidence in the establishment.

The hygienic handling of food at the establishment, which includes preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling, and storage, was found to be 'very good'.
Inspectors found that the cleanliness and condition of facilities and buildings, including the layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control, is good.
The inspection also found that checks are in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, including staff's knowledge of food safety, is very good at the establishment.
The Southampton Arms reopened in November 2022, following a refurbishment, and serves a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as food.
