A SALAD manufacturer near Andover has been praised for being kind to the environment.
Vitacress Salads, which has its head office at St Mary Bourne in Lower Link Farm is one of the leading growers and marketers of salads
Andover's MP Kit Malthouse has paid the site a visit, praising some of its work,
He said: "Over the years Vitacress has become a local institution and an important large employer. I was very impressed with their sense of responsibility to the local community and importantly, the local environment, specifically the Bourne Rivulet.

Mr Malthouse said the site has seen millions invested in several years and also promised that the water leaving their site will still be cleaner than when it arrived.
Its achievements the introduction of living herbs, baby leaf salads, bagged watercress, rocket and baby spinach.
It started in 1951 with one acre of watercress beds in Alresford and is now part of the RAR Group with a network of farms and 13.5 hectares of glasshouses, employing over 1,500 people across Europe.
