AN ANDOVER man who had a crowbar in a public place and assaulted an emergency worker has avoided jail.
Reggie Denyer was caught in Calder Court, Andover, on Monday, January 15, with the offensive weapon. On the same day he also damaged a wall and doors belonging to a woman in the town and assaulted her.
The 18-year-old then attacked police officer Rob Perry, who was exercising of his functions as an emergency worker.

Denyer appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 29, to be sentenced.
He pleaded guilty to charges of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, criminal damage, assault by beating of an emergency worker and common assault at a previous hearing.
He was given a six-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months.
Magistrates ordered Denyer to complete up 20 rehabilitation days and 80 hours unpaid work.
They also ordered for the forfeiture and destruction of the crowbar.
