FROM robots to dinosaurs and the gates featured in Jurassic Park – these are just some of the things that Andover’s youngsters envisage for the town’s future.
Dozens of children took part in Andover Museum’s Future Andover competition, which gave them an opportunity to draw what they think the town will look like in years and decades to come.
On Thursday, March 7, artist Alex McGarry visited the museum, in Church Close, to judge the competition.
In the age four to seven category Antek, six, won with ‘Andover Tower of the Sun’, while the eight-11 winner was Amelia, aged 10, for her treehouse creation, and Harvey, 13, won the age 12-15 category for his ‘fantastically futuristic towers’.

Museum manager Ian Grierson said he agreed with Alex’s picks, adding: “We invited children from three different age categories to submit pictures of futuristic buildings that they would like to see in Andover. We received entries from a lot of different schools.
“We had a lot of pictures of dinosaurs, the gates from Jurassic Park – that was quite surprising – and a lot of robots as well.
“This competition has been alongside our Doodle Room exhibition; a lot of people have been coming in and drawing on the walls.”
Winners of the competition will receive prizes made possible through a ward grant via Test Valley Borough Council. Alex also donated prizes for the winners.
All the entries are currently on display and will remain up until the museum closes on Sunday, March 10.
