AN ANDOVER nursery has been rated outstanding in all areas following an Ofsted inspection.

Shepherds Spring Pre-School Nursery, in Smannell Road, was handed the rating following an inspection on March 6, 2024.

The report, which was published on Friday, April 5, 2024, sees the preschool upgraded from its previous 'good' rating in 2019.

Staff were praised for placing a 'very strong focus on children's happiness and well-being' as well as planning enriching activities that 'build on children's interests and development needs'.

Inspectors also noted that all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), make 'exceptional progress' due to the 'language-rich environment'.

The report continues: "The determined team are keen to meet the children's needs. They take time to get to know the families, children and the community in which they live. As a result, they provide a broad curriculum predominately based in the outdoors which enhances the children's experiences."

Safeguarding is also noted as 'effective', inspectors added that there is an "open and positive culture around safeguarding that puts children's interests first".

Sharon Harper-Ronald, setting manager at the preschool, said: "The team and I are humbled to be recognised for the hard work and dedication that it has taken to reach this milestone.

"Whilst we are incredibly proud of our achievement, we feel that this is the minimum standard our children deserve, and we will continue to strive for a better provision with a greater impact on our local community.

"I extend my appreciation to the Services for Young Children team, Jigsaw Early Years Consultancy and all my staff for supporting me when I took over the management of Shepherds Spring Pre School Nursery after our inadequate Ofsted rating back in 2018. I am incredibly proud that we have come so far.
