I STAND back and wonder what our ancestors would think of what is going on in this generation. They also achieved a lot in their time. What are we doing different to them? How have we advanced from what they did and had. Technology has certainly advanced from their time. But then again, are we happy, have we become a nation of expecting more. We have sent people to the moon, we have advanced in medicines and medical needs, we now have surgical robots that can help with operations in our hospitals, also we have robots that can make cars and lots of other things, which obviously cuts down the work force.
Electric cars, fibre optics going in the ground, better technology with computers and mobile phones, but it seems we can’t appreciate what we have got because we always want more.
Who would have thought that Covid would have done the amount of damage it has done. People losing their loved ones and what it has done to change everything in the world since it happened.
We have advanced with home shopping, grocery deliveries and banking online. Out of this terrible trauma, things change not always for the better.
Doctors appointments have changed, some surgeries are doing face to face. Some you have to wait for the doctor to call you either by phone, computer or iPad. We have lost many different services. Money has become harder to spread around all these different services, which we need or require.
Shops have closed, banks are closing with more people working from home.
A lot of pressure is being put on hospitals, dentists, schooling and other services.
So should we go back a little bit in time and not throw away all the different things we use, and recycle more, not use once and then throw it away. Companies should make more things biodegradable. Thank goodness that plastic bags are not wasted now, a lot more people bring their own shopping bag. We now recycle more, plastic, tin cans, tyres, newspapers, garden waste, wood and lots of other things. Furniture is also recyclable as long as it has a fire hazard sticker on. People have put websites up offering things for free. (One man’s trash is another man’s treasure).
We should think more on how to save our planet, how is the world going to take all this waste.
