Winton Community Academy appoints new principal Becki Clark

Rebecca 'Becki' Clark, who served as associate principal before her promotion, has said she is "honoured" to take on the new permanent position leading the AET School.

Ms Clark brings a wealth of experience to the role, having joined the academy in September 2023 and served as associate principal before her promotion.

Her prior experience includes extensive work in school improvement, leading teacher training in schools across the South East of England, and leadership as director of a Teaching School Alliance.

Ms Clark holds a Bachelor of Music with Honours (BMus) from the University of Surrey and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the University of Southampton.

On her new appointment as principal, she said: "I am honoured to lead Winton Community Academy. 

"My vision at this school is to provide an exceptional education within a supportive and high-expectation environment. 

"Winton fosters a culture of respect and courtesy, embodied by the 'Winton Way,' establishing a positive learning environment for all students.

“I believe in fostering strong partnerships with our students, parents, and the wider community, to ensure this collaborative spirit empowers our students, who we recognise as kind, thoughtful, and ambitious individuals destined for great things. 

"Together, we will guide and support them on their journey to success."

Karl Sampson, regional AET director, said: "We are so pleased to appoint Becki as our new leader at Winton.

"Becki has overseen so much already at the school as acting principal and we have every confidence in her building a really great foundation for our students to thrive in."

The school maintained its ‘good’ Ofsted rating at a recent inspection and boasts a recently refurbished library, dance studios, a new student centre and an animal management area with expansive grounds.

Ms Clark is overseeing the development of a new art facility at the school, including a full-sized school hall which should be ready in time for the new intake of students in September 2024.

She officially started as principal at the start of the summer term.
