A MOTHER who almost died when pregnant with her daughter and was left disabled has turn her life around and is now helping people improve their lives.
Sarah Williams launched Goby Massage in 2021 having suffered with a long period of ill health and wanted to do something that was meaningful and help with people with pain to relax.
The Andover resident said: “When I was pregnant with my daughter, 10 years ago, I was six weeks pregnant, I was diagnosed with blood clots on my lungs, I almost died, they were that severe. It literally puts your body into turmoil.
“A couple of years after that I had appendicitis and I then found out that I needed spinal surgery a couple of years later.”

Sarah was left disabled for many years, but one she had an epiphany which changed everything for her.
“I thought ‘do you know what I want my life back, I’ve had enough – my body hates me’,” Sarah told the Advertiser.
“I started pushing myself. I wanted to do something that helps people as I’ve learnt so much about the body.”
The 50-year-old began to increase her activities and when she was able to started to learn massage therapy online and during the Covid lockdown she continued to train “rather than binge-watching television”.
In 2021, Sarah set about finding someone to open a massage room and within a week of finding a location she was ready to open – after the lockdown lifted.
“I have really turned my life around, to anyone suffering I would say there is a way out.”

Goby Massage, at 5 London Street, offers pain relief for anyone who has muscle pain, along with lymphatic drainage massages, deep tissue massages, dry cupping therapy and organic facials – to name just some of the services.
“It is great to know that I am giving people pain relief,” Sarah said. “I just want to make a difference because suffering so much myself I understand how people feel.
“The clients I’ve got are my reason for doing this. I still have issues with my health, but I will keep going as long as I can.”
Sarah’s children, Aaron, 13, and Leona, 10, have autism and sensory issues, respectively, which she says helps her understand the different issues people are living with.
The mum of two has just given the business interior a new makeover, bringing a more serene and relaxing environment for clients during their massage treatments.
