A NEW exhibition telling the diverse stories of people who have migrated to the Andover area over the last three decades is going on display in June.

Andover Museum will open its exhibition, From There to Here, on Friday, June 7, and unlike traditional exhibitions, this collaborative project aims to bring contemporary history to the forefront by highlighting the experiences of recent arrivals to Andover from around the world.

It is seeking to explore the personal journeys and cultural traditions of these individuals, shedding light on their lives, hopes and dreams.

Under the themes of childhood, food, coins and money and lucky charms, contributors were invited to lend objects for temporary display that hold significance to their personal stories. Photographs depicting buildings typical of their places of origin will provide a visual backdrop to accompany the narratives.

Each contributor has also provided a short piece of writing, offering insight into their background and the reasons behind their move to Andover.

Sarah Lindsell, visitor experience assistant and exhibition coordinator, expressed excitement about the project's potential to foster greater understanding and appreciation for the cultural mosaic that defines Andover.

She said: "This exhibition is not only an opportunity to showcase the richness of our community's diversity but also a chance to forge stronger connections with our local residents."

While coordinated by Andover Museum, From There to Here has drawn inspiration and support from the Andover Cultural Sharing Forum, facilitated by Test Valley Borough Council.

The exhibition will run until Sunday, July 14.
