General election: Who is standing in North West Hampshire?

The election, which will see residents head to the polls to vote for one of six candidates from various parties, will take place on Thursday, July 4.

The seat was previously held by Conservative, Kit Malthouse who was first elected as MP for the constituency in May 2015.

It has been Conservative since the constituency was formed in 1983.

According to a recent poll from YouGov, the Conservative Party is predicted to hold the seat in North West Hampshire with 38 per cent.

Conservatives: Kit Malthouse

Kit MalthouseElected in 2015, Kit was a Secretary of State for Education between September 6, 2022 to October 25, 2022.

He said: “People here seem to intrinsically understand the value of stability and experience in what is, sadly an ever more dangerous world.”

Labour: Andy Fitchet

Andy Fitchet  (Image: Labour Party) Growing up in the area has shaped who he is today and he wishes to see the constituency thrive.

In the 2017 general election, he placed second against Kit Malthouse.

He said: “As your local MP, I will fight for our beautiful area to make sure we get the support we need to thrive once more.”

Liberal Democrats: Luigi Gregori

Luigi GregoriHe is a local campaigner and champion for the Andover area and is committed to seeing real change locally and nationally.

Looking to work with the North Hampshire community to build a better, brighter and fairer future, he said: “We have been let down again and again by our Conservative MP and Conservative-run councils and we deserve better.”

He continues to fight the key issues fighting for a better and more liberal Britain.

Hampshire Independents: Phil Heath

Phil Heath, who lives in St Mary Bourne, was a councillor in Basingstoke for 20 years until 2011. Now he is standing as a candidate for the Hampshire Independents.

He said: "It's time we give justice to Waspi women and their pensions, back increases in basic tax allowances, provide more apprenticeships, force water companies to tackle flooding and clean our rivers."

Reform UK: Andrew Meacham

Born in Kendal in 1996, Andrew stayed in education until sixth form proceeding to join the Royal Navy in 1983 and started his career in marine engineering.

Now he stands as a candidate for Reform UK and has become increasingly alarmed with the calibre of political leaders.

“I am standing for Reform UK because I have had enough of being represented by career politicians, who have little interest in putting the country first,” he said.

Green Party: Hina West

Hina West  (Image: Green Party) Hina, from Whitchurch, is standing as the candidate for the Green Party.

She is proud to be part of the thriving community and believes there is a better future within reach.

She said: “The Green Party is the only voice that truly understands the full potential ahead for us, economically, environmentally and socially, offering green solutions that will improve lives of families and communities, not just quick fixes or for the benefit of a few.”
