RESIDENTS of a housing estate in Andover have been struggling with issues caused by maintenance work which has closed off a footpath and left parking spaces unusable due to the dumping of rubble.

The works in question are underway in Turin Court, and one resident told the Advertiser how nobody was informed and "nobody knows when work will finish".

Resident Andrew Whiteley, 68, said: "The footpath has been blocked for a week, workers have been digging and we are not sure what for. Some people are struggling to get around it."

The rubble from the work has been dumped in two parking spaces, meaning that residents are having to find other places to put their cars.

"There is limited parking as it is, and now there is a pile of rubble taking up two or three spaces," Andrew added. "People have to park their cars on the side of the road."

One issue with the footpath being closed is that residents who have mobility issues have been "inconvenienced and had to walk the long way round".

Andrew continued: "My issue is we were not informed, and it has inconvenienced the neighbourhood. They should have let us know."

A spokesperson for Kier, which is carrying out the work, said: "We apologise for any disruption caused for our work at Turin Court and thank residents for their patience while it has been carried out.

"We wrote to residents nearest to the site last week to provide notice, and our work will be fully completed and the site cleared by 13 June."
