AN ANDOVER drink driver has been disqualified and fined after being caught on New Year's Eve.

Ashley Prior, 37, of Junction Road, was stopped by police on Lower Manor Farm Cottages in Ashmansworth, Newbury, on December 31, 2023.

A test revealed Prior had 93mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath – more than double the legal limit of 35.

Prior pleaded guilty to the charge on March 28 at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court and was sentenced to a community order requiring 20 days of rehabilitation activity.

The court also gave a 23-month driving disqualification, which can be reduced by 23 weeks if a drink driving rehabilitation course is completed.

Prior was also ordered to pay a £40 fine, £40 court costs, and a £114 victim surcharge.
