A BRIDGERTON-inspired event held at a listed property near Stockbridge has been called a success.

The event was held at Houghton Lodge on Sunday, June 9 and saw the grade II listed cottage, which dates to 1793, transformed into a scene from the Regency-era series.

Visitors were able to don their finest period attire, with the aim of immersing themselves in the elegance and charm of the period.

The Hampshire Regency Dancers were on hand to entertain the audience with graceful movements and demonstrations, even inviting guests to join in and learn the steps themselves.

Meanwhile, The Bossard String Quartet played an array of modern pop hits in a Regency-era style.

The Glass House, the estate's new tea room, served up an array of treats, with guests able to enjoy afternoon tea, pre-booked picnic hampers featuring local Hampshire produce, Regency-themed cakes, and Bridgerton-inspired cocktails and mocktails.

Guests were also able to follow a curated trail through the gardens, visiting the walled garden, oriental garden, peacock garden and the grotto.

A workshop led by Victoria, the Lodge Florist, allowed visitors to craft their own Regency-inspired floral corsages.

Sophie Busk, the owner of Houghton Lodge, said: “The joy and enthusiasm of our visitors made Bridgerton Bliss a truly magical day. We're thrilled to have shared the beauty and history of Houghton Lodge in such a unique and engaging way.”

Sophie added that Houghton Lodge Gardens will offer more immersive events in the future.
