Engineering students from University Centre Newbury (UCN) recently had a unique tour of Ocado's advanced grocery fulfilment centre.
The visit to the big 217,000-square-foot Andover facility took place on June 24.
It offered students a glimpse of the cutting-edge technologies used in daily operations.
Colin Graham, lead engineering operations manager, guided the insightful tour.
The facility, capable of handling 60,000 customer shopping orders weekly, demonstrated the Ocado Smart Platform.
This platform boasts over 800 robots that use artificial intelligence, robotics, and automation to fulfil customer orders.
Mr Graham elaborated on Ocado's innovative relationship with technology and supply chain management.
Stephen Payne, UCN programme leader for engineering, said: "This was an exceptional opportunity for students to experience automation at its finest.
"We appreciate the support and cooperation from Ocado in making these industry visits possible. The students gain a vital insight into world-class technology and supply chain operations."
Emphasising careers, not courses, UCN fosters real-world experience, preparing students for successful careers in the engineering and technology sectors.
