VOTING is now underway in the General Election with the public heading to the polls to decide who they want to be their next MP.

Various national polls are showing Labour in the lead over the Conservatives, suggesting there could be a new party in power following voting on July 4.

Just for fun, the Advertiser held our own online poll to see how Andover residents intend to vote in the constituency on the day of the election.

Various polls show that the Conservatives will hold their seat in North West Hampshire.

However, our poll showed Labour coming out on top with North West Hampshire with candidate Andy Fitchet securing a majority in our poll with 47.7 per cent of your votes.

The subsequent results were also different to what national polls predict for the town, which suggest that Labour will come second, followed by Liberal Democrats, Reform UK and Green.

Our poll showed Reform UK candidate Andrew Meacham coming second with 17.4 per cent of the votes.

In joint third place with 13.7 per cent of your votes were Green candidate Hina West and Conservative candidate Kit Malthouse, who has been MP for the constituency since 2015.

Liberal Democrat candidate Luigi Gregori came fourth with 7.3 per cent of the votes followed by Hampshire Independent candidate Phil Heath who did not secure any of the votes.
