AN UPPER Clatford man has been banned from driving for 12 months after he was caught over the alcohol level.
Robert Sidey, of Balksbury Hill, was stopped on Sam Whites Hill, in the village, on May 22. It was found that he had 56 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – the legal limit is 35.
The 78-year-old admitted the offence during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on July 3.
Along with being disqualified, he was fined £200 and told to pay court costs of £85, along with £40 victim surcharge.
