A FLEET of low-emission minibuses has been introduced across Andover to serve communities across the town, after a £1million investment.

Stagecoach unveiled six new minibuses on Wednesday, July 17, equipped with USB charging ports as well as audio and visual next-stop announcements, which it says will 'make bus services as accessible as possible'.

The buses have also been fitted with Euro VI engines to help cut emissions.

Cllr Kirsty North, Andover North councillor, spoke at the launch in Andover high street, saying: "The arrival of a brand-new fleet of Stagecoach buses is great news for residents of the town and surrounding villages.

"These vehicles are greener to help improve air quality and boast a range of features to make bus travel more appealing.

"Commercial bus services such as this provide a lifeline for many in our area offering an affordable way to take everyday journeys to work, appointments, and for pleasure.

"With a £2 fare cap still in place until the end of the year, it’s a great time to hop on a bus.”

Managing director for Stagecoach South, Marc Reddy, added: "We are delighted to be launching these new low-emission vehicles which represent a significant investment in our services for the local Andover community.

“We recognise the importance of local bus services across Andover and the fleet of new buses confirms our commitment to improving bus travel in the region."
