A TEA shop in Hurstbourne Tarrant will close its doors later this year as its current location has ‘become untenable’.
The Tea Cosy, which celebrated its 10th anniversary in May, has announced with ‘immense sadness’ that it will shut on Saturday, September 21.
A post on the business’s Facebook page by owner Jenni Danks said: “We have enjoyed every minute of the last 10 years, meeting and serving wonderful people. We thank each and every one of you who has visited us for our speciality afternoon teas, events and of course our cakes!
“Special thanks to all the staff who have worked so hard over the years, it’s been an absolute pleasure and life-long friends have been made.”
Hundreds of people have commented on the Facebook post, sharing their memories and sadness at the announcement.

Jenni opened The Tea Cosy on May 24, 2014, as she wanted to create a space for the community to come together. Over the years it has provided entertainment for all ages, including events for children over the school holidays with visits from singing mermaids, princesses, superheroes and villains.
Jenni has thanked jollypop entertainment which provided the ‘wonderful characters and spread so much joy to all the child and adults alike’.
She continued: “Thank you to Sally Ann Bakes for helping us with our glorious cakes, we couldn’t have kept up with the demand without you.”
The Tea Cosy will temporarily close on Sunday, August 4 and reopen on Wednesday, August 14, to allow staff to take a break before a ‘busy and emotional period’.

Jenni added: “Please do come and visit us as we serve our last cakes. In time we may find new premises but for now it’s farewell. You are still welcome to book themed afternoons teas, traditional afternoon teas, events and cakes up until this time.”
The business will be selling off all its décor, fixtures and fittings. If there’s something you would like or would like to come and have a browse, message The Tea Cosy or pop in.
Jenni added that any future business that occupies the unit, "bears no relation or connection to The Tea Cosy in any form".
