A BUSINESS which was started in the founder’s spare bedroom has celebrated its 25th anniversary.
In July 1999, Graham White, following a successful career in recruitment, started Active Staff and within 18 months had his first premises.
Supporting local companies and people in finding work, the team grew and in 2011 Lisa Armstrong, who is now a director, returned to the business, having worked at Active Staff before, with the goal to expand the company and open other offices.
By 2023 it had come through the Covid pandemic and had three offices.

Lisa said: “We were then presented with many other issues – the world had changed, almost overnight. So, as an innovative leader, we had to change too.
“Changes following Covid has meant we no longer need to be in one place to service the local community, but we can still give the same exemplary service levels from wherever we are.”
The business not only supports businesses locally, but also nationally, and still has few of its original clients.
“We, of course, have had many new companies use our services, again, coming back again time after time. We have a team of dedicated and loyal people who are brand ambassadors and offer service excellence,” Lisa said.

It also has experts in many sectors and plans to grow further in the following years, along with continuing to provide both temporary and permanent recruitment.
Lisa continued: “As we celebrate 25 years in business, we would like to thank everyone who has played a part in this journey – without you all, none of this would have been possible.”
She added: “The moral of our story is, keep going, don’t give up when times are hard, find the ways to be successful but most of all, be kind to you as running a business isn’t always easy.”
