MEMBERS of the Andover Carnival committee have gathered to celebrate the resounding success of the 100th anniversary event and announce the total amount raised.
Held on Sunday, July 21, the carnival saw thousands of residents line the streets to witness what organisers lauded as their biggest and most successful event to date.
At the AGM, on Wednesday, August 7, Kevin Rush, one of the event organisers, announced that the carnival had raised more than £10,000.
The event was organised to support two worthy causes — Purple Oak and Girlguiding Andover.

Purple Oak will use its share to develop a sensory garden at one of their respite centres, while Girlguiding Andover will be able to support up to 20 girls from low-income backgrounds for a full year of activities.
The evening, at The Lights, also included an awards ceremony, recognising the most impressive floats and walking groups based on 7,000 public votes.
Endeavour Primary School won the best charity float, receiving more than a thousand votes.
"It was obvious that Endeavour would win due to the quality of their float," Kevin said.
The Wildcats secured first place in the business category, and The Ruby Slippers Show School took home the top prize for walking groups.
Andover Trees United came second among walking groups.
In the business floats category, DJ Disco Dion, who also performed at the AGM, won second place, while Littleworld Day Nurseries came in second for charity floats, impressively preparing their float in just three days.
Wallop Primary School and Asda were awarded third places in the charity and business categories, respectively, and the MS Society secured third in the walking procession.
The carnival committee extended heartfelt thanks to the community for their support, which made the event a significant success.

The committee members will take a well-deserved break in August before starting preparations for next year's event in September.
