MEMBERS of the Andover Carnival committee celebrated the success of this summer's event at their annual general meeting (AGM) held at The Lights on Wednesday, August 7.

The event marked a reflection on the successful carnival, which took place on Sunday, July 21 and saw thousands of residents line the streets to enjoy the festivities.
Kevin Rush, one of the event organisers, announced that the carnival raised more than £10,000.

These funds will support two causes: Purple Oak, which will use its share to develop a sensory garden at one of its respite centres, and Girlguiding Andover, which will support up to 20 girls from low-income backgrounds for a full year of activities.
Highlights from the AGM included the presentation of cheques to the two charities.
The evening also featured an awards ceremony recognising the most impressive floats and walking groups, based on 7,000 public votes.
