ICKNIELD School has received two mobile hoists, purchased by the Rotary Club of Andover.

The generous purchase, also backed by a Rotary District Grant, is set to transform the lives of pupils and staff at the school for youngsters with SEND.

The school caters for children with severe and profound learning difficulties and already boasts fixed ceiling hoists for moving pupils in and out of wheelchairs and beds.

However, these new mobile units will enable staff to move students from room to room with reduced risk of strain or injury.

The mobile hoists are both safer and more versatile, easily lifting pupils to and from chairs, beds, armchairs and wheelchairs.

The initiative has been welcomed by the school, known for its extensive curriculum, which includes opportunities for pupils to learn cooking and IT skills alongside their usual studies.

The mobile hoists are expected to enhance their learning experience by allowing greater access to different areas of the school.

The Rotary Club of Andover has a longstanding relationship with Icknield School, previously funding its FE Centre.

School headteacher, Sean Cannon and Rotary Club president, Mike Peacock are both pictured celebrating the new equipment.
