DOBBIES Garden Centres invites the public to free Grow How sessions at its Andover store, aimed at creating vibrant spring gardens.

Every Wednesday at 10.30am and 3.30pm throughout September, along with Saturday, September 7, Dobbies Andover will be buzzing with garden enthusiasts.

People will be able to enjoy 15-minute demonstrations packed with practical gardening tips and engaging Q&A sessions.

The upcoming workshop, Getting Ready for Spring in September, is designed to assist gardeners in preparing for a colourful spring season.

With more than six million spring flowering bulbs being delivered across Dobbies' stores, participants will discover the best bulbs for their spring displays.

The season's top picks, such as tulips, daffodils and crocuses, will be showcased.

Workshop attendees at the Andover store will also be taught to create a 'bulb lasagne'. This technique involves layering different bulbs in a single pot, ensuring a consistent bloom from early spring into the summer season.

Ideal for compact spaces, this method promises to add a lovely splash of colour to patios and balconies.

Coverage of essential tips like choosing bulbs for cut flowers, selecting the appropriate bulbs for pots, and understanding the correct planting depths to promote healthy growth will also be included in the workshops.

Simon Jefferey, the horti manager at Dobbies, will be involved in helping everyone get their gardens ready this September for the forthcoming spring.

He said: "These Grow How sessions in our Andover store is a fantastic way for families to bond over gardening. We love seeing kids get involved, planting their first bulbs and eagerly awaiting the flowers.

"It's a great introduction to the joys of gardening, an opportunity to connect with nature and get inspired for the seasons ahead no matter your experience."
