THE death of a child at CarFest is not being investigated by the police as it was "non-suspicious", it has been confirmed.
A three-year-old boy died unexpectedly after suffering a medical episode at the family festival in Overton on Saturday, August 24.
Emergency services, including an air ambulance, rushed to Laverstoke Park Farm shortly after 11pm.
The boy was rushed to hospital but died a short time later.
Hampshire Constabulary told the Gazette that information about the boy's death has been passed to the coroner but that it is not being criminally investigated.
A coroner investigates deaths which are violent, unnatural or unexpected and this case is being treated as "unexpected".
Chris Evans, who founded CarFest, is "deeply saddened by this tragedy", a spokesperson for the event said.
They added: "We can confirm that the medical incident reported in the papers took place at CarFest on Saturday night.
"All of our emergency teams worked together with the support of the NHS to take the child to hospital where he sadly passed away.
"We have and will continue to respect the family’s wishes at this very difficult time and allow them to grieve in private."
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "As this is a non-suspicious death, there is nothing further we will be providing."
