Heavy showers and thunder could hit Andover in the next few days, forecasters have warned.

A 12-hour weather warning has been issued by the Met Office which covers the south of England, including Andover. 

It is in place from 9pm on Wednesday, September 4, and ends at 9am on Thursday, September 5.

The current forecast says there is a 30 to 50 per cent chance of rain overnight, but of course, that is subject to change.

What to expect according to the Met Office:

  • Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
  • Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
  • There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost
  • There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
  • There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life
