Two people have been arrested following a report of a public order incident involving a group of people in Andover town centre.

Police said they were called at 6.59pm on Tuesday, September 3, to a report that an incident involving around 10 people was taking place on the high street.

When officers attended the scene, three victims came forward to say they had been assaulted by a group of people.

Two of the victims – a man in his 40s and a man in his 20s – sustained minor facial injuries.

A third person, a 16-year-old boy who was riding past on a moped at the time, was hit on his motorcycle helmet, but he was not injured.

Two arrests have been made in connection with this incident.

A 31-year-old man from Andover has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

A 16-year-old boy from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of affray, assault by beating, criminal damage, and a public order offence.

Both people are currently in police custody.

Officers are carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances of what took place.

They are appealing for witnesses to come forward as they believe there would have been people in the high street or Bridge Street area at this time who potentially would have witnessed the incident.
