POLICE are continuing to ask residents to remain vigilant of doorstep traders who may attend addresses suggesting repair work to your property, guttering, patio cleaning and especially work that you haven not requested.

Test Valley Cops have posted on social media once again, after offering advice to people earlier this year.

The recent post stated: "We wish to remind residents to be vigilant, do not agree to work unless you can verify they are from an approved business, advise friends or family if someone is knocking on your door suggesting any work and watch out for any vulnerable neighbours who may be at risk. If individuals cannot provide a quote or valid company identification do not engage with them or give them any payment.

"There are lots of reputable business in the local area, if you require repairs or work to be completed, please research the company and get more than one quote before agreeing to any works as this can help prevent scams and keep you safe.

"Some doorstep traders can be persuasive and even aggressive in their manner and may use pressure tactics to encourage you to have work carried out, if you feel pressurised by anyone trying to sell a service call the police on 101 or 999."
