Principal Business Travel (PBT) has celebrated its 25th anniversary, marking a quarter-century of providing more than the typical travel services to clients.
The CEO, Ingrid Sanderson, reflected on the journey so far on March 14.
Ms Sanderson, who started PBT in 1999, said she aimed "to create more than just a travel agency".
In her words, she wanted to "turn the typical travel service into something more like a 'business travel family.'"
One memory she shared was of a client who had to get to Luxor for work but was delayed in Cairo. After a rapid change of travel plans, the client made it.
Ms Sanderson added: "Needless to say, the passenger involved is still a great client today!"
The company has navigated serious challenges over the past 25 years including Brexit, the 2008 recession, the pandemic, and other crises. Speaking of the 2010 ash cloud, Ms Sanderson described this as "a logistical nightmare."
She added that they managed by thinking "fast, get[ting] creative, and pull[ing] every trick in the book to reroute and reschedule." As PBT moves forward, it's introducing a wellness initiative and customer rewards programme to ensure clients arrive at destinations feeling good.
Ms Sanderson also discussed how vital the PBT team, both past and present, has been to the company's success, stating "each person who has been part of Principal Business Travel has left their mark."
The anniversary was also a time for reflection and pride, commented Ms Sanderson, before adding excitedly: "I can't wait to see what the next 25 years will bring."
