A Land Rover Discovery driver from Andover has been slapped with a suspended custodial sentence for careless driving and causing serious injuries to a man on the A303.

Blade Dible, 21, of Anton Road, pleaded guilty to driving a Land Rover Discovery on the A303 in Andover without due care and attention and causing serious injury to a man on January 23.

Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court sentenced him with a 12-week imprisonment period, suspended for 12 months, and 12 months supervision period.

The court said that the offence was so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified.

Dible should also undertake 120 hours of unpaid work within 12 months.

He has been disqualified from driving for 12 months. Dible should also pay £85 costs and £154 surcharge.
