IT'S FRIDAY the 13th, the day considered unlucky by many.

The superstitious date has long been associated with black cats as a bad omen, so we're looking to bring the animals some good luck today by showing you five black cats that need adopting.

According to the RSPCA, black cats are the least likely to be adopted, so we've rounded up these felines from Basingstoke and Andover looking for their new homes.

Lokie and Lexi

The sisters are looking for their forever home after entering the care of Cats Protection Basingstoke.

The two-year-old black cats can be homed together from September 26.

Loki, the more timid of the two, is described as a 'very sweet and loving' cat that 'loves to be stroked. Lexi is 'much more confident' and 'loves to play and be stroked'.

Groot

Seven-year-old Groot has been looking for a new owner since February. The black cat comes vaccinated, neutered and microchipped and is ready to be adopted immediately.

He has been described as a 'very loving' cat on his terms, but be warned, he does 'dribble a lot' when having 'lots of fuss' according to the non-profit Helping Dogs and Cats Rescue.

Ruby

One-year-old Ruby is now ready for adoption. The young cat, currently under the care of Helping Dogs and Cats Rescue, is looking for a completely pet-free home with children over the age of five.

Her fosterer describes her as a 'happy playful cat' and although she 'isn't a lap cat', will 'sit next to you for a fuss'. Ruby loves to play with toys and 'will follow you around' but favours laying on the sofa.

Cozzie

This cat, described as a 'big softie at heart' is an older animal at 14 years old. He has been vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped, ready for his pet-free forever home.

Cozzie 'loves a brush and a play with the cat toys' and is a 'curious cat, always investigating his surroundings'.

The black cat with white paws loves to be around people as 'humans are his best friends' and is now looking for a 'retirement home'.
