A new headteacher has been appointed at Andover Church of England Primary School and she’s already making huge improvements to the classrooms.

Fiona Tickle is a familiar face around the school as she’s been the Deputy Head for two years.

Parents were excited about the announcement, with one joking: “We are all so happy, Mrs Tickle is the new head, we were going to start a petition demanding she become our Headteacher!”

Miss Allen said, “It’s been a real privilege to work with Mrs Tickle and all the wonderful staff, families and children at Andover. Mrs Tickle already knows and loves the school and she will take it from strength to strength.”

Mrs Tickle has spent the summer holidays overseeing a major refurbishment of the school with all classrooms decorated, every room having new carpets laid and brand new furniture installed.

Fiona explained: “The school is looking fantastic. We have converted an old storage space into a new Food Technology Cookery room, we have installed a new stock cupboard and created a new office from an old unused medical room. It’s been a very busy summer!”

Andover CE Primary School was very fortunate to receive a grant from Andover Community Church, where the congregation raised money as part of the Be Rich campaign. The financial support enabled the building of the new Food Tech Room, where all children can learn valuable everyday life skills of cooking.

The school is running Open Days this term, details can be found on their website andover-pri.hants.sch.uk.
