A day dedicated to helping older people live safely and independently in their own homes was held in Andover.
The event, focusing on 'Housing for Life', took place on Thursday, October 3, at Andover Community Church and was organised by the Andover and District Older People’s Forum (ADOPF).
The event marked the International Day for Older People, celebrated annually on October 1.

The day featured a range of informative talks, including one from the Test Valley Borough Council housing team, discussing available help for older people in both rented and private housing.
Topics covered included adaptations, occupational therapy access, financial benefits, entitlements, supported living, and the housing register.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service also presented on keeping homes safe from fire and other hazards.
Its advice highlighted various risks and offered friendly tips, including the importance of using home safety and wellbeing visits, which older people can access free of charge.
The event also featured the 'Ideal Safe Home Exhibition', which had a variety of information displays focused on different aspects of living independently as an older person.
Cllr Ian Jeffrey, the Mayor of Test Valley, was present for the entire event, from welcoming attendees to drawing the raffle prize winners at the end.
The day’s activities were part-funded by a Councillor’s Grant from Cllr Zilliah Brooks, with hopes that the proceeds from the raffle will cover some of the remaining costs.
