One of Andover's oldest charitable organisations is seeking new trustees.

The Andover Charities, which has been supporting people since before 1189, is on the hunt for two trustees to join its team.

The charity, which manages almshouses and the Common Acre, also provides grants to people in need.

Originally, separate smaller charities were combined into one in 1962, forming the current organisation.

The charity manages four almshouses at The Acre, which have recently been refurbished, as well as 15 others at Borsberry Close, built in the 1970s and 1980s.

Trustees are expected to attend three meetings a year and can volunteer to help with grant-giving on Tuesday mornings.

A spokesperson for the charity said: "The charity has gone through a period of modernising our properties and are looking at how to take the charity forward into the future."

Trustees will be involved in managing the charity’s properties and planning its future direction.

Those interested in becoming a trustee can contact the charity for more information.

The Andover Charities has played a significant role in the community for centuries, providing essential services to those in need.
