A new planning application has been submitted to propose the conversion of an Andover house into a residential care home.
The application submitted to Test Valley Borough Council (TVBC) seeks to transform Walker House, located at 103 Charlton Road, into a care home facility.
Walker House is a large detached property situated within a predominantly residential area. The site is well positioned for its intended use, with nearby healthcare facilities, including a care home, hospice, maternity centre, and Andover ambulance station, all located to the east of the property.
The house itself is set on an expansive plot with dual access from Charlton Road and Silchester Close and benefits from extensive on-site parking facilities on both the east and west sides.

The proposed care home will cater to a maximum of six adults living together as one household. It will offer residential care and support services.
The property currently consists of a four-bedroom primary home and a two-bedroom annex, along with 750sqft of commercial space.
The building is arranged over two floors and includes an outbuilding, which is currently used as a workshop.
With private gardens and spacious accommodation, the home is expected to offer a comfortable living environment for the residents.
Staffing at the care home will include 12 residential care staff working 12-hour shifts, meaning six staff members will be present at the site at any given time.
A deputy manager will also be stationed on-site.
The planning application estimates an average of 26 daily vehicle trips to and from the property, but both the Highways Authority and Andover Town Council have raised no objections to the proposed development.

Given its location and the availability of ample parking and access, the application has highlighted that the property is well-suited to provide the necessary care and support services.
The site is not within a conservation area, nor is it near any listed buildings.
