A CHARITY golf day has raised £11,000 for Prostate Cancer UK.

The event, which took place at The High Post Golf Club on Thursday, August 15, was run in memory of Alan Potter, who died from the disease in October 2005.

It brings the total raised over 17 years to £179,000.

The event not only supports vital research but also raises awareness about the importance of early detection.

Over the years, several participants have received an early diagnosis of prostate cancer thanks to the awareness raised by the event about the importance of getting their PSA levels checked.

This early detection has enabled them to access timely treatment, significantly improving their chances of survival.

A total of 23 teams competed in a Texas Scramble format, kicking off with a shotgun start under overcast skies. Following the golf, participants enjoyed a buffet, raffle, and a lively auction hosted by Adger Brown.

After a close competition, Simon Potter, Alan’s son, announced the winners were Toby Jackson’s "TJ Roofing Team" who proudly claimed the trophy.

The day is organised by Simon Potter, Chris Bradbury, and Neil Wells, with thanks to the generous sponsors and participants who help make the event a success year after year.

Next year’s tournament will take place on August 14, 2025, again at The High Post Golf Club.
