Two women, dressed as grannies have driven 2000 miles across France, Switzerland, and Germany to raise cash for a motoring charity.
Clare Envis, 34 and Becky Cleary, 43 were inspired by David Walliam’s character, Gangsta Granny and decorated their car, a Volvo, to match their outfits.
The pair work for Andover Car Service and Becky said: “I crocheted squares to cover the car, it took forever but we definitely turned some heads.”
Clare explained: “We dressed as Gangsta Granny’s for the whole journey, and drove the decorated Volvo up and down mountains to the Nürburgring.”
On the final night they were crowned winner of the Best Car and Best Fancy Dress, beating off 45 contenders. Clare said she was overjoyed: “It was an incredible feeling, so much time and effort had gone into making the car stand out, in the hope of raising as much money as possible for Ben.”
So far the pair have raised £32,000 for the charity, Ben which supports people who work or have worked in the motor industry.
Andover Car Service is also due to auction 45 cars in the next week and will add the amount raised at the auction to the total. To donate go to: Giving.ben.org.uk//pf/andovercarservice
