TEENAGERS started fires, caused damage, set off fireworks and shouted and swore in Tidworth last night, leading police to appeal to parents for support.
Officers from Amesbury were called to the town on Sunday after receiving reports of a “large group” of teens causing problems at areas including Wylye Road play park.
This came days after Tidworth saw a spike in anti-social behaviour offences on Halloween (October 31) caused by young people.
On Sunday night, a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “This evening we are again responding to calls reporting a large group of teenagers in Tidworth shouting and swearing, causing damage, starting fires and setting off fireworks, particularly at Wylye Road play park.
“Again, we would like to ask local parents: do you know where your children are, who they are with and what they are getting up to?
“Do you know how children in Tidworth are getting fireworks?
“It is an offence for anyone under 18 to be in possession of F2 or F3 fireworks.
“This excludes items such as sparklers and party poppers. Fireworks can cause serious injuries and damage, and local residents continue to tell us they're concerned about the risks.
“If you have any information regarding these issues, please contact us on 101, 999 or on the Wiltshire Police website: orlo.uk/8TxPZ. Reports can be made anonymously if you wish.”
