A new initiative aimed at improving mental health through walking has been launched.

Walking Week Andover is designed to encourage the community to get outdoors, socialise and improve their wellbeing.

The initiative is being run by the Walk N Talk 4 Mental Health team, who conduct three walks every week, all of which are attended by a trained mental health first aider.

The walks take place in various locations across Andover and provide an opportunity for attendees to seek initial support, encouragement and guidance towards professional help if desired.

The organisers have chosen the winter months for their initiative, as they believe the change in weather and daylight can negatively impact mental health.

The first walk will take place on Tuesday, November 26 at Charlton Lakes. People are being asked to meet at Salto Gym, Charlton Road, at 2.45pm.

On Wednesday, November 27 a walk will be held at Anton Lakes, with people meeting at Redon Roundabout Car Park at 3.45pm.

On Thursday, November 28 the final walk will be held at Rooksbury Lakes. Attendees should meet at Anton Arms at 5.45pm.

Each walk offers a chance for people to engage with others, receive support and enjoy the benefits of walking in nature.

The initiative aims to provide immediate support and professional help for those who need it.
